Worshiping through Thankfulness

Thanksgiving is upon us! Family, food, memories both good and bad is what is ahead of us. Thanksgiving is a time when we get to be together as a family and also a time to remember those who are not able to sit with us at the family table. It can be a trying and difficult time for many. It is a great time to stop and think through what we have going right in our life, to stop and be thankful. Thanksgiving is a time where we get to pause and be thankful for the many blessings that God has given us.

Being Thankful is a way we can worship God. It is a way we can take a gloomy depressing moment, day or funk we are in and have it be transformed into joy. Singing praises and thankfulness to the Lord can radically change our attitude. Jesus is worthy to be praised and should be!! We need to take our eyes off ourselves and put them on the one who created everything. It is hard not to be thankful for who God is and everything God has made, including you!

Psalm 100: 1-5 says it so well, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.  Serve the Lord with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God:  It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise:  Be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; And his truth endureth to all generations.”

May you be able to reflect on His goodness this Thanksgiving. Whether you are with lots of family or little, let’s let the focus be on God. For HE is good and He deserves ALL the praise!
