“But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.” – Galatians 4:4-7
So many of the teens we deal with come from broken or very troubled homes. Often there is no father in the home or the man who is there is doing less than a stellar job as a role model.
At our Heatwave Conference in Wildwood, NJ, hundreds of kids from the mid-Atlantic states gathered for a good time and an opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. One message that had a profound effect on the students dealt with the fact that as believers, we are children of God. One of our leaders told a group of girls that as children of the king they deserve to be treated as such. One girl began to cry saying, “why doesn’t my father treat me like a princess?” Our leader was able to share that despite what her father had done, she has a Heavenly Father who loves her perfectly. I have watched as that Father has wrapped His loving arms around this particular young person.
Your prayers, interest, and gifts for this ministry helped make this moment possible. May God bless you for your kindness to young people in the name of Jesus.
