Amy was invited to Campus Life in 7th grade by a friend. She was a little shy but joined in the games and discussion. As we talked in small groups, I got to know a little bit about where she was coming from. Her parents had been split up for a while, and she was with her dad and stepmother. Things were difficult, and she was struggling with her own self-image. By the end of her eighth-grade year, she had to move away with her father.
Last year, Amy moved back to Greenville to live with her sister since things had gotten so bad with her father and stepmother. She came back to our Club with her friend and was able to go on a few trips with us. She still has lots of questions and is interested in learning about God but struggles with even more than she did in middle school.
I have been able to talk with her multiple times and have been happy to share the hope of Jesus and the life He offers. She’s still thinking about it. I pray that God will work in her life and reveal Himself to her as a Father who loves her, will take care of her, and comfort her. Until then, Campus Life will be a safe place where Amy can be listened to and just be herself.
