Maddie has been coming to Clifton Park Campus Life for about a year. She is still relatively new, so there is still quite a bit we don’t know about her yet. A couple of things we do know is that she is one of our oldest kids and is very popular with all of our students. She always shows up pretty bubbly and jumps right into whatever we are doing. She is kind, caring, and always willing to help. Although she is popular with the other students and seems outgoing, she is still very reserved and private at the same time.
As we have gotten to know her a little bit, we mainly know only surface level stuff. However, we had a minor breakthrough with her a few weeks ago when our jaws dropped at Campus Life while playing volley ball. We were all having a great time laughing and having fun, as Maddie went to retrieve the ball that had rolled past her, she announced out of nowhere, “I love coming here, Campus Life is the only place I’m happy. I’m usually very depressed but here I’m happy.” If I’m being honest, I will tell you I was shocked. I had no idea Maddie was depressed and I didn’t realize the impact coming to Campus Life was having on her.
That is why we do what we do. We go into the broken world of teenagers and share with them the light of Jesus. Our hope and prayer is that as Maddie continues to be surrounded by that light, she will someday soon surrender her life to Jesus. That is our prayer for every kid that walks through our doors. Would you please pray for Maddie and the many kids like her? Pray that as they come to our ministries, they would encounter the one true living God.
