Thankfulness

At the Dream Club in the South End of Albany we have many kids that come in and out for different programs each week. One of the young men who attends their programs, is a young man named Eric. Eric is a very outgoing 11 year old who participates in every activity, from basketball, cooking class and Albany City Life. As Albany City Life is just coming into full swing, we are slowly starting to learn where our youth are in their faith in Christ.

Recently, we did an activity with our youth about Thankfulness. We asked kids to put thought into what they were thankful for. Expecting to see the traditional, family, friends, video games responses, we were all blown away by the detailed work of Eric. This small activity helped us to see that not only does Eric believe in Jesus, but he has an understanding of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.

This picture has allowed me, along with our volunteers, to really focus on our conversations with Eric. Just last week Eric and I sat down and talked about what it meant to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we gave him his own Bible and started to go over scripture. Each day since, Eric comes in excited to talk about what he read and has many questions. Please pray for Eric as he goes down this amazing journey of learning more about Christ and that he will accept Christ as his Lord and Savior.
