Many students have painful life experiences. Ryan is one of them. He lost his father to cancer when he was in 5th grade. It’s been 4 years, but Ryan continues to struggle with the pain and emotion of this great loss. He has a loving and supportive mom and brother, but has still felt depression and the desire to end his life at times. He’s getting help as best as his family can find to help him.
I learned all of this after Ryan started coming to our Greenville Campus Life Club when he was in 7th grade. Ryan is fun, smiley, and very sweet, but behind it all is a pain and loss that he finally felt free to share with me. The pain isn’t gone, but at Campus Life Ryan is finding a place he can be himself and relax. It’s a place that he can be encouraged to believe that there’s a God who loves him and is on his side. Campus Life is filling his need to find the spiritual answers he is looking for without feeling judge for his emotions and doubts.
Ryan hasn’t come to completely solid conclusions about what he believes yet, but I know he will continue to hear this message of hope for the next four years as he is welcomed and accepted at Campus Life. Please pray for him and students like him, that God would meet them where they’re at and reveal his love, hope and salvation to them. Thank you for supporting Campus Life in Greenville.
